Cherry Orchards: Better Fruit Quality with 50% Less Water

Cherry Orchards: Better Fruit Quality with 50% Less Water

Improving Irrigation Efficiency in Export Cherry Production

Cherry production requires precision. Water stress directly affects fruit size, firmness, and export quality.

In Nigde, Turkiye, Nanotern™ Agriculture was applied in cherry orchards operating under limited water availability and high export quality expectations.

Unlike conventional dry application methods, the product was deployed in a semi-swollen form before soil incorporation. This allowed faster interaction with the soil and more immediate moisture buffering around the root zone.

The results showed:

  • 50% reduction in irrigation demand
  • Approximately 10% improvement in export-grade fruit quality

Most importantly, these gains were achieved simultaneously.

This case demonstrates that water savings do not have to come at the expense of crop quality. By stabilizing water availability around the root zone, Nanotern™ helped maintain plant performance under challenging conditions.

For growers facing increasing irrigation pressure, this represents a smarter approach to water management rather than simply reducing water input.
